If you feel like you've been waiting forever.
When we're asking God for something, it can feel like an eternity. What if he’s doing something inside of you to get you ready for what he’s going to do with you?
Ever feel like you’ve been waiting? Maybe you’ve been praying for something for what seems like forever. Maybe you’ve been sloughing through a job that gives you little satisfaction. Maybe you get through one difficult period just to get with another.
If so, I have good news for you.
I just spent two days at a conference with some incredible people. But this wasn’t a writing conference, it wasn’t about storytelling, it wasn’t even about mental health. It was a mortgage conference. Yes, a mortgage conference.
How even I got invited to this conference (which is crazy) and what I observed and learned will be a full post likely next week. In the meantime I’ll sum it up this way: A multi-billion dollar mortgage company is putting God first, and they invited me to their first ever faith summit. And it was amazing.
I tell you that because while I was there they handed out a special Bible called, “The Life Principles Daily Bible” with commentary by Charles Stanley. It gives you a reading plan that allows you to complete the entire Bible in one year. I’ve actually never read the Bible cover to cover (sorry Zechariah), so I was excited about this.
I opened up today’s scriptures during my morning prayer, journaling, and reading time and got to it. I read through the excerpts of 1 Samuel, Psalms, and Proverbs before I got to the Gospel reading: John 1. And that’s where Stanley gives us a little history lesson while introducing the book.
That history lesson is important for any of us who have been waiting. Who have been praying. Who have been begging. It gives us hope.
