5 things we have to accept about God.
These five truths are the only way we will ever be able to trust him and do what he asks of us.
“Ugh! Why?! Why can’t I have just this one thing?!”
That’s what I asked God this morning after he told me I had to give something up. Something that had become an idol in my life. Something I’ve been turning to for security, instead of turning to him. Something other people may be able to have and do with no issue, but for me it’s become one. Why? Because it’s keeping me from fully turning to Jesus to be my everything.
And as I walked the mental journey of surrender this morning, it became clear that there are five things we all have to accept about God if we’re ever going to actually do what he tells us to do.
I didn’t get there right away, though. The questions above are where my mind immediately went. Ever been there? You know what you need to do, but you don’t want to do it. It can be hard. But you know when it’s especially hard? When the “thing” you’re being told to give up, or stop, or whatever isn’t inherently bad. It’s not evil, it’s not sinful. But you know that you need to give it up. You just know. He’s made it clear.
You can justify it a million ways to Sunday, but you just know. I know. And that’s where I found myself this morning.
As I wrestled with it, knowing full well where this was eventually headed, God reminded me of something. He answered my why. “Why do I have to give this up?” Because…
