It’s my daughter’s 10th birthday today. She is such a delightful girl. Seriously. She is sweet, kind, empathetic, obedient, fun, funny, you name it. But we found something out last night in the most unexpected way: She’d been keeping a secret. And the admission of it ended in tears. Let me explain.
Last night, my wife went to the store after dinner to get some birthday treats for my daughter. My wife is so good about making every morning of every holiday special. Whether Easter, Christmas, or their birthday, our kids wake up to decorations and little treats every time. And they love it.
But besides little decorations and gift bags yesterday, my wife also got my daughter’s birthday cake. That “cake” was a tray of a variety of cheesecakes. See, a couple years ago, I ordered a cheesecake for the kids to try while at their favorite restaurant: Olive Garden. They loved it!
