I'm exposing myself.

This is a little uncomfortable. But here it goes.

OK, this is a little uncomfortable. But if you’ve been around here for any length of time, you know that’s what I’m all about: getting uncomfortable and radical vulnerability.

So here we go. I’m about to expose myself.

Recently, I found out that someone who I disagree with on a lot of levels has been elevated to lead an organization I respect. I had no idea this person existed before I heard the news, but after researching them I was shocked. There is no reason that I can see that this person should have gotten the job. At least no reason based on merit.

Today, my wife and I were talking about our core values as I drove her to yet another one of her day-long doctor appointments. She told me what she thought my top five values were. Number one? “Justice.”

Bingo.

I’m a justice-oriented person. Much of this recent hire reeks of injustice. It smells. Something is rotten in Denmark, it seems.

And it’s been eating me up. Not so much out of anger, but more so out of grief. Because there are s…
