It’s been an interesting morning.
I had something that had been gnawing at me since Friday that I had to work out in “fear and trembling” this morning. And I have to say: I wasn’t quite prepared for all that God showed me. But I want to share one aspect with you, and it has to do with what I think are some of the scariest verses in the Bible.
I won’t get into details, but suffice it to say that this past week I noticed an old part of me resurfacing. This part wants to take matters into its own hands. It doesn’t want to trust God. It says, “I know what’s best.” It’s willing to compromise—even ever so slightly—to get what it wants. And even if “what it wants” may seem good, the ends don’t justify the means.
Sound familiar?
I think we all have some version of this part inside of us. It’s the part that believes what it wants is what it needs. It’s the part that doesn’t like to trust God, that fears any aspect of the unknown. The part that can’t stand not knowing.
