We live in an era of pet monkey Instagram influencers. And there's a lesson there, but I doubt it's what you think.

Our local paper got me.

They sent me an offer to subscribe for something like $1/month for the next few months. And while you can take the writer out of the news, for some reason you can’t completely take the news out of the writer. (Or something like that.) My writing career started in the news business, and there is still a desire to be and stay informed and read fascinating stories.

So I subscribed. (And then set a reminder in my calendar for a few months from now to cancel.)

I was rewarded for my impulse decision yesterday with a weird and fascinating story. It was about a pet monkey. But not just any pet monkey. It was about an Instagram-famous pet spider monkey. A monkey influencer, so to speak. (We really live an era of pet monkey influencers. Sometimes I just have to roll my eyes.)
