I think I was watching a football game last week when I saw it and started crying. And I’ve only ever cried while watching a football game twice before in my life.
Maybe that’s two more times than you’ve ever cried while watching a football game, but I’m a huge Packers fan and I shed tears when we went to the Super Bowl in 2010 and when we won it. (Yes, “we.” I’m one of the lucky fans who actually owns part of the team.)
The tears flowed this time, though, not out of joy, but out of overwhelm. Out of appreciation, maybe. Out of an overflow of what has been going on inside me over the last two years—from coming to the end of myself, to pursuing Jesus, to rebuilding what was lost, and out of a realization of how tough the last few months have been.
And what made me cry? A TV ad. Yes, a TV ad.
