Have you heard of "the wormwood and the gall"? Maybe you haven't heard of those specific terms, but you probably know what it means because you’ve experienced them in life.

One of my acquaintances recently decided to take a 6 month break from social media. But before she did, she posted a video of her recalling a nugget of truth she found in the Bible. And dang, it's good.

She was talking about the biblical book of Lamentations chapter 3. This is quite a long chapter, but basically it can be summed up like this: I'm miserable, but God you're faithful.

How many of us can attest to the first part? I'm not "miserable" right now, but life isn't easy. I'm going through things personally, my wife is going through things, and that means that we as a family are going through some things.

In Lamentations 3, the writer has a phrase for that. He says in his prayer to God, "Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall!"
