Maybe your "miracle" looks different than you think. That's Shawn's incredible story.

A couple weekends ago, my wife and I went out to eat with some new-ish neighbors.

Stephanie and Shawn moved into the neighborhood before the school year, and their daughter and our daughter have become fast friends. In fact, we’ve marveled at—and thanked God for—their budding friendship. It’s been a much-needed drink in an extended dry season. And so we wanted to get to know the family better.

While we were eating too many free chips at the Mexican restaurant (OK, while I was eating too many free chips at the Mexican restaurant), I asked a burning question: “So, Shawn, what exactly happened with your heart?”

See, I had heard Stephanie mention that Shawn had heart problems, and there had been several mentions of his “incident.” But I never knew what that meant. I was about to find out.

And… wow. There’s a lesson there for all of us.
