When it hits you.

There will come a time and a place when it hits you. And when it does, remember this.

I noticed something this morning I never noticed before. Something small and simple, and yet deep and profound. That’s what I want to share with you today.

I’ve started using the Charles Stanley “Life Principles Daily Bible.” I got it as a gift last week, and the idea of at least trying to read the entire Bible in a year is intriguing. But that’s not the main reason I like it. What I’m really enjoying is being exposed to scripture passages I’ve either never read before or have glossed over. Today, I was exposed to one such passage.

I’m not sure I’ve ever read 2 Samuel 5:12 before, but I did this morning. And tucked away is a little nugget that really spoke to me. I think it will speak to you, too.

Let me give you verses 10-12:

And David became greater and greater, for the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him. And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, also carpenters and masons who built David a house. And David knew that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

OK, here’s the quick context: Saul has died, and David has just officially ascended to the throne of Israel. As he takes the throne, he builds a palace. And as he builds a palace, another far-off king lavishes David with some of the best lumber available in the world.

Here’s where it gets really interesting, though.
