What the "high places" in 2 Kings can teach us.

This morning, I sat in rush-hour traffic driving my wife to one of her twice-a-week doctor appointments. Two years later, she’s still recovering from a car accident that has changed her life.

While the hour-long trip isn’t fun, it does give me an excuse to complete one of my crucial assignments for my summer classes: to read (or listen to) the entire Old Testament. Today, I found myself finishing up 2 Kings. And while there is plenty there that can make you go cross-eyed (or cross-eared?), there is also plenty that is useful if you’re willing to listen.

Today, I found something immensely useful. Unexpected, but useful. And it has to do with a term that I grew up hearing but never bothered to research.

That term? “High places.” Maybe you’ve heard it, maybe you haven’t. But today, there’s a lesson about the “high places” that I think we all need to heed. That lesson is this:
