I participated in Alanon rooms (support groups for families of alcoholics) for years and I would always think, "Why can't the church be more like this?" They were some of the most honest and healing conversations I ever had.
Sadly there are times when we go to fellow Christians about our struggles and heartaches, and are shamed for 'not having enough faith.' Yeah, I've experienced that.

So very true! Itβs a shame that addicts feel more welcomed in the basement of the church than in the sanctuary.
